Victory in Vobis Veldloop EkehaarJanuary 16th 2005 - After a little viral infection, Simon had decided not to run the Internation Cross Country race of his own club, Sprint, but to run a smaller race near his new home town (-to be-) of Gieten: the Vobis XC in Ekehaar. Simon won the race with a lead of over 2 minutes, despite staying with the pack for the first 4km. "I felt quite good, but decided only to go for it after 2 sort-of warmup laps, to test how I felt. The competition wasn't tough, but for me, it was a good specific training". The race was organised by some of Simon's collegues at NAM, the Dutch brand of Shell where Simon currently works. The atmosphere at these type of smaller races in teh North and east of the Netherlands is always very nice. | Eh, I could have smoked Simon. In a race like that I would not have let him get away. Now that I am back at Adams State College in CO, my training will be great here shortly. Ha ha, what's up Simon? |
