Double victory in last track race of the yearSeptember 26th 2004 - At the promotion/degradation final for Dutch premier league club teams, held in Groningen, Simon helped his club score 14 points by winning both the 3000m steeple cahse and the 1500m on the same afternoon. His club, AV Sprint of Breda, also won the ovreall competition and stayed in the premier league. "The competition was of national level only, but there were a couple of decent runners in both races. I ran two tactical races, as only the position in the race scored points. The time was completely irrelevant", Simon said. "I am happy my club did so well today. I could not run the first competition for club teams and saw that my club ended up in degradation danger. I am happy that I could help the club stay where it belongs: in the highest national league. i am very proud of all my team mates, many of whom won their individual events as well". Simon will stop the track season finally, take some rest, and only do some interesting road races. The first of these is in 2 weeks time, the Groningen 4 miles.
