Simon in second place in Appelscha

February 19th 2006 - After his first victory of the year in Zeegse, Simon had to settle for second in his second race in Appelscha. Simon faced tough competition from Dutch cross country top athlete Erik Negerman, who beat Simon by half a minute.

"Erik has done very well on the cross country over the last year, so even if I would not have been injured so long, it would have been difficult for me to beat him", Simon said realistically. Simon will depart for Portugal on wednesday, weher he will train for 10 days in the warm mediterranean climate.
